A flexible approach to self-management

The new Self Management for Life Online course builds on the same concepts and evidence-based approaches used in our successful group face-to-face programmes.

The online course is designed to give patients flexibility to learn at their own pace, whilst providing online support from trained peer tutors who are available to answer questions, feedback on exercises and provide help when necessary. It has 7 interactive modules, which will give patients the tools and techniques they need to manage their long-term condition.

This online solution is particularly useful for people who have physical mobility difficulties; who may live in remote areas or who may prefer online-based learning. It provides patients with a flexible and effective self-management intervention.

Studies show that patients who actively self-manage use fewer NHS resources; they have fewer appointments with GPs and nurses and attend accident and emergency (A&E) less frequently, with typical gross savings to the NHS of approximately £1,400 per patient per year[1]

Self Management for Life Online is aimed at individuals of all ages, with single or multiple long-term physical and/or mental health conditions, such as diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, depression, chronic pain, arthritis, among others.
