Volunteering

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us deliver courses to patients with long-term conditions throughout the country. We couldn't operate without them. In a recent survey, 100% of our volunteers said they recommend volunteering with self management uk.

Who can Volunteer?

Anyone can volunteer with self management uk as long as you have:-

  • good communication skills
  • good organisational skills
  • willingness to learn
  • commitment


No previous volunteering experience is necessary, just a passion for helping others and full training and assistance is provided all the way.

Volunteering Opportunities:

A range of voluntary roles are available, including delivering and promoting our courses in your local community, assisting with our online course, or supporting our back office functions:

Self Management for Life Tutor/Facilitator

Key skills required: Awareness of self-management skills, ability to present within a group, teamwork and have attended one of our courses.
Key responsibilities: To co-deliver self-management programmes for people living with long-term health conditions. (There may be various opportunities within this role)
Support provided by self management uk: Full training and on-going support. Out-of-pocket expenses

Self-Management Ambassador

Key skills required: Active self-manager, Confidence to speak in public
Key responsibilities: To promote the importance of Self-Management within the local community. (There may be further opportunities within this role)
Support provided by self management uk: Presentation skills training and on-going support. Out-of-pocket expenses

Support Assistant

Key skills required: Good organisation skills and commitment to carry out administration tasks. Friendly and patient.
Key responsibilities: To support course administration and recruitment processes
Support provided by self management uk induction, training and on-going support. Out-of-pocket expenses
